Editorial note

A headless body hovers before empty chairs, holding flowers in one hand and a bat in the other. Tenderness and threat, vulnerability and force coexist within a single figure. Tattoos and mesh become layers that change how the body is read, rather than simply covering it. The tension between a familiar setting and an impossible weightlessness suspends any fixed identity, shifting attention from who this body is to what it might do.

The artist’s practice

Hakan Sorar’s practice began with photography and expanded into digital imaging, 3D modelling and augmented reality. He investigates the relationship between bodies and spaces, surfaces and identity, reconfiguring figures and architectural elements into hybrid forms.
