Biography and practice
Pınar Bora was born in Istanbul. She graduated in 2010 from the Painting Department of Beykent University, where she studied on a scholarship from 2005. In 2024 she completed her MA in Painting at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, begun in 2021, with a thesis on entertainment scenes and venues in Turkish painting. Her series I Have a Dream was selected for Mamut Art Project in 2021, and There Was One More Chance for BASE in 2023; the same year she took part in the Genç Bakış Contemporary Art selection. She opened her first solo exhibition in 2026. She works in her studio at Cer İstanbul as part of the Ege Yapı Atölye Hane programme.
Her practice is shaped by the relationship photographic images build with memory, history and reality. Working in ink and coloured pencil on plastic alloy surfaces, she reinterprets photographs of 20th-century social and cultural events, questioning their historical meanings, their modes of representation and their place in collective memory.
